What does “skip the public shuttle” actually mean?
Most visitors arriving at Mutianyu transfer from their vehicle to the public scenic shuttle at the main visitor centre. We arrange access for your private vehicle to continue to the inner parking area instead, avoiding that queue and transfer before you continue towards the Great Wall.

Meals
A local jianbing near the foot of the Great Wall is complimentary if requested. Restaurant meals are paid separately. Let us know if you would like help with reservations or dietary requests.
Route suitability & passports
Tell us about walking preferences or comfort with heights. The cable car up + toboggan down route involves walking between ride areas; the chairlift is open. We’ll explain relevant ride restrictions before confirming. Bring your physical passports for real-name admission; we’ll arrange the required ticket details with you before your visit.
Cancellation
For one-day tours of up to 6 guests, cancellation at least 24 hours before departure is refundable less the 3.5% payment processing fee and any non-refundable real-name tickets already issued. Cancellation within 24 hours is non-refundable. Larger parties and custom tours use a separate deposit and cancellation schedule. Read the applicable terms.

Is this Mutianyu Great Wall private tour suitable for families with children or older parents?
Yes. We plan the route and pace around your family. For families with young children or parents who prefer a gentler walk, we usually recommend taking the enclosed cable car both ways.
From Tower 14, you can first walk towards Tower 13 for views and photos, then return and continue towards Tower 18 before heading back to the cable car at Tower 14. This avoids the steeper section towards Towers 19–20, while offering beautiful views of the Great Wall.
You don’t need to complete the whole route. Walk as far as feels comfortable, take breaks, and turn back whenever you’re ready.
Do you offer discounts for children and infants?
Yes. Infants under 3 are not counted towards the chargeable party size for the base private tour. For example, two adults travelling with one infant under 3 pay the same base tour price as two adults. Admission and ride tickets are charged according to the applicable ticket rules.
Eligible child ticket discounts and infant pricing adjustments are applied to your final quote. The online estimate does not yet deduct these adjustments.
Please include everyone, including children and infants, in Guests so we can arrange the right vehicle, and share children’s ages and heights when enquiring.
What does direct vehicle access mean?
Our direct vehicle access saves you over an hour by skipping the public shuttle queues, transfers and the walk through the commercial street.
Your private vehicle takes you directly to the Great Wall entrance area and collects you there afterwards. On the return journey, you avoid waiting for the shuttle and then walking through the commercial street to reach the main parking area—a welcome difference after exploring the Great Wall with children or parents.
From our drop-off point, allow around 15 minutes to walk to the cable car or chairlift entrance, followed by approximately 5–10 minutes on foot after the ride up to reach the Great Wall itself.
